Nomenclatuur

Habitus

Cushions of delicate green, flowers rising eight inches on naked stems, almost solitary, of a soft grey blue. (Fig.27).1)

Slender-stemmed, erect, glabrous annual or short-lived perennial, to 2 ft.

Leaves

Leaves few, narrowly elliptic to lanceolate or oblanceolate, less than 2 in. long, crenulate to entire

Flowers

Flowers few near apex of st., erect or ascending, on bracted peduncles to 2 in. long, corolla light without appendages, lobes awl-shaped, to ½ in. long, corolla light violet, rotate, deeply lobed, 1-1 ½ in. across, stigma 3-lobed.

Carpathians.

Use

This species requires frequent division, or else it will be lost. I have found it somewhat shy flowering. (Fig.27).3)
