Grayish-pubescent perennial, to 3 ft.
Rosette and lower stem leaves long-petioled, oblong to elliptic, upper stem leaves sessile and more or less clasping at base, more ovate, all finely toothed and scabrous.
Flowers sessile in bracted, few-flowered, interrupted spikes, calyx whitish-pubescent, corolla about twice as long as calyx, to 1 in. long, tubular to funnelform.
