Vivace. Souche trés tracante. Tiges simples, élevées de 60 á 90 centimétres⁴⁾.

Feuilles lancéolées ou lancéolées-linéaires; les infériures pétiolées, étalées en rosette; les caulinaires décroissantes⁵⁾.

Les fleurs sont sessiles, géminées ou ternées, disposées en épi feuillé long de 15 á 30 centimétres; corolle largement campanulée longue de 2 centimétres sur 3 centimétres et demi de diamétre, de couleur bleue. Fleurit de Juin en Juillet. Elle posséde une variété a fleurs blanches (Campanula grandis var. alba Hort.)⁶⁾.

Campanula grandis cv 'Percy Piper'is a trade-name (ISU-register 1969). Zander (1972) says Campanula persicifolia L. var. sessilifolia Velen (Campanula latiloba DC, Campanula grandis Fisch. et Mcy) and 'Perey Piper' occur just as often in the literature as Campanula persicifolia-variety. It is a strong plant for groups where the basal-leaves gradually form a united carpet. The single leaf is light green, long, crenulate, liniar-lanceolate, serrate, 2,5cm wide but smaller in the inflorescence. The stem is about 100cm high and at least the upper 50cm is coverd with pedicelled solitary axillary and terminal, bellshaped flowers.

The flower nearly as big as the Campanula carpatic-flower. The female part of the flower is particular beautiful. The ovary is round, the colour being bluish-white and glossy. The 3-parted stigma is 2cm long. Belongs to the group of Campanula with capsule openings near the top. The flowering was very rich both in 1973 and 1974 and the stems stand upright in spite of bad weather conditions ¹¹⁾.

One of the freest growing species, with broad bells, thickly arranged on terminal spikes. The white form is much recommended. The foliage is similar to that of the Peach-leaved Campanula. Height about two feet; propagated by division of the root. Rhis species should be tried in shady places, where I have often seen it doing well and making a bold show.¹²⁾

Culture et Multiplication. - On la multiplie á l'automne ou au printemps par la séparation des touffes, et aussi par semis, que l'on fait en Avril-Mai, en pépiniére un peu ombragée; on repique les plants en pépiniére et on les met á demeure en Octobre ou en Mars, en les espacant d'environ 30 á 35 centimétres. - Cette Campanule réussit assez bien aux expositions demi-ombragées. Cette espéce est trés rústique; elle fleurit de Juin en Juillet et réussit volontiers dans les jardins au bord de la mer¹³⁾.

Campanula viciaeflora. Co le stesse norme colturali indicate per la Campanula Medium si coltvano altre due specie abbastanza frequenti nei giardini; Campanula persicifolia L., indigena, vivace, a fiore azzurro pallido e sue varieta a fiore bianco od a corolla doppia; Campanula grandis Fisch., della Russia settentrionale e dell'Anatolia, vivace, a fiori blu.¹⁴⁾
